Description

The goals of the Really Really Free Shop are to reduce waste and build connections within the community. Instead of always buying new things, we encourage people to pass on items they no longer need, allowing others to benefit. For example, children outgrow clothes quickly, so parents can bring those clothes back, and someone else can use them. This creates a cycle where everyone benefits, fostering a sense of interconnectedness. Over time, we've seen this process naturally occur, with items being returned and reused by others.

We also aim to challenge the traditional idea of what a shop should be. The Really Really Free Shop has been running for over two years, and it’s been wonderful to see relationships and connections grow. People keep coming back, and it feels like we're recreating the supportive, sharing environment of a small village. Our shop has become a focal point for this exchange, and it's exciting for people to search through and find something they need. While we face challenges, like finding reliable volunteers and storage space, the sense of community and physical interaction is a core part of what makes the Really Really Free Shop special.

We are based at 2 markets in Gribblehirst Hub market and New Lynn Market.
